Early in March we celebrate Read Across America Day. An event meant to both honor Dr. Seuss's birthday and inspire young readres to read! The internet is full of wonderful reading acitivites and Seuss-inspired resources for parents and teachers alike. Yet, we know that you are full of some fantastic ideas of your own that we'd love to see and share!
Even though Read Across America Day 2010 has passed, we'd love to challenge you this month to Seuss-ify your learning activities. Enjoy the whimsical rhyming stories with your students. Put together some silly and satisfying follow-up suggestions. Post them to your blog and link them to our Dr. Seuss author party on March 26th!

Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. Ted's father, Theodor Robert, and grandfather were brewmasters in the city. His mother, Henrietta Seuss Geisel, often soothed her children to sleep by "chanting" rhymes remembered from her youth. Ted credited his mother with both his ability and desire to create the rhymes for which he became so well known....
