Teaching Children to Count by 2, 5 and 10

Skip Counting, such as counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, is useful in showing the patterns between numbers. Some count-bys are more useful than others. Counting by 5s has application to money and time-telling. Being able to memorize and fluently recite count-bys is beneficial for eventual success with multiplication (forward counting) and division (backward counting).

Count by 2's
Julie from The Adventures of Bear used a dot painter and a number chart to begin teaching the concept of skip counting to her little one.

Count by 5's

Count by 10's
