What was your favorite playground game? Four Square - although I can't exactly remember the rules now.
What do your children most enjoy doing on the playground? climbing!
How is the playground at your school? my son says it's boring.

If I were to ask my soon to be second grader what he is most looking forward to this year, he would most certainly answer, "Recess!" Your children too? There is no question that the playground is an important place and there is lots of learning going on while the kids are outside.

When I was in elementary school some of my favorite recess games were: What Time Is It, Mr. Fox, Red Rover, Red Light/Green Light, and anything that involved a jump rope.

Skipping Rope: Here is a great list of traditional jump roping rhymes and tricks to learn.

  5. My kiddos love swinging at the park. The elementary school in our neighborhood has a really nice playground. When I was little we had a teacher that would push the merry go round so fast that the kids would be flying off the sides. I don't think they can do that anymore.

I love our school's playground. It is much more 'kid' friendly with the mat-grounds than the playground I remember growing up on.

  11. I don't really have a favorite playground game, but I've always loved swinging on the swings (still do). My kids love the jungle gym equipment and slides. Our school playgrounds are wonderful, especially because they have shade structures over the equipment. It gets very hot here in AZ!

  19. As a kid I used to love playing in the bushes and making "forts."

Nowadays it seems my children enjoy tag or foursquare the most.

The playground is not bad at our school... it just seems to my kids that there are too many rules limiting what they can do, so they prefer to stay off the playground. Maybe it's too crowded?

Great idea for Sprite to encourage imagination outdoors.

Today my daughter enjoys playing tag and hopscotch.

The playground at our school was just redone and it has lots of playground equipment plus room to run on the grass and paved areas too. I love that we can walk to it from our house, oh and that it was the one that I went to when I was little too!!

  28. When I was little we would play "supermodel." All of the girls would prance up and down the sidewalk with their best "model" walk while I would be the announcer and describe their outfits (and yes, we were only in the 2nd and 3rd grades!). : )

My own children LOVE to swing on the playground!

Our playground is fun with lots of slides and swings and things to climb on. Love it!
